Le Bouton Linen Dress

Lisa Dorr of Le Bouton has placed the last of her Linen Dresses up on her Etsy site before she starts producing them for her catalog (when this happens, the price of the dress will increase) .
Lisa's garments are special and wonderful. Tailored to fit you! This dress comes in black, dark brown, medium grey, natural or indigo. Catch them while you can!
(PS. The colors above are not representative of the actual colors used for the dresses. I am just having fun!)

Little Flower Macarons

French Macarons via SF & LA. From Little Flower Candy Co. I love these (who doesn't?) and could not resist the colors. If you haven't figured it out already, I'm a sucker for color.
They taste lovely, though...the woman working at the counter that day at Little Flower told me they aren't made in house yet, but are shipped in from a bakery in San Francisco. Any guesses as to which bakery? Janis?
The Poppy is from our yard. Sucker for color. LOOK at that orange!

Farmer's Market

Color study: Red, yellow, orange...
Tomory and I went to the South Pasadena Farmer's Market yesterday.
First we stopped in at a favorite restaurant Firefly for a tapas of Crispy Oysters and a glass of wine...
Then we picked up dinner. Roast Chicken for Tomory, Shrimp Pupusas & Watermelon Lemonade for me! It was a beautiful evening.

Here is a great blog by Neville Trickett via Kris.

Perfect bag?

This may be it. I've been searching. Not to big. Not too small. Travels well. Simple. The Musette Bag.

Cheryl Cambras/ Pop Flock @ Mercado

I went and saw Cheryl Cambras' installation Pop Flock at Mercado, a nice little store in Silverlake.
I love Cheryl's work and have written about it & her before on my blog. I really enjoyed seeing some new pieces: The Punk Rock Cock, the bird in the bottle, and the chickadee chilling out to the boombox. I'm not sure how long it's up, but stop by if you are in the neighborhood.
Great job Cheryl!

For Jo

Jo tagged me!
I just played this game a little while ago, but to be a good sport I answered the questions I didn't already. Jo has a very nice blog- take a look!

These are the rules:

a. respond and rework:
answer the questions on your blog,
replace one question that you dislike
with a question of your own invention.
add one more question of your own.

b. tag eight other un-tagged people.

...

what do you feel like today?
Tired, confused, excited, hopeful.

if you were a tree, what tree would you be?
A big twisty gnarled oak, or a delicate Japanese maple tree with red leaves.

what is on your bedside table?
Alarm clock, a lamp, olive oil hand cream, a flashlight, a rosary and a prayer book.

what is your favorite pair of shoes?
My Madewell boots.

say something to the person who tagged you.
Thank- you for thinking of me...you have a beautiful blog, and I will be reading it now!

what would you like to have in your hands right now?
Some fabric and a rotary cutter.

what would you like to get rid of?
Hopelessness.

what was the last book you read?
The Road by Cormac McCarthy

name a film that left you speechless.
Hmm. Not speechless...but it was very good; Rachel Getting Married.

if you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go?
My back -yard, and take a nap in the setting sun.

what can you do right now to help nature that you don't already do regularly?
Make sure that all the products I buy are green/ environmentally friendly and cruelty free. I could be much better about this, I'll admit.

And I'll tag: anyone who feels like playing...please feel free!

Scoops Ice Cream

I
t was the first day of spring. Overcast and cool for L.A.- we decided we still wanted to make a trip to Scoops Ice Cream. Tai Kim is the owner and ice cream mastermind behind this small shop. The flavors are made in small batches by hand (by Mr. Kim). The flavors...amazing. I had Pistachio Cardamom, and the Salty Chocolate. Tomory had Taro, and Vegan Maple Oreo Cookie.
In the past I've had Brie ice cream, Chocolate Guinness, PBR & Avocado, Strawberry Balsamic, Brown Bread (tastes like Grape Nuts cereal) and so many more. A true L.A. gem.

Tomory and I are in Beverly Hills about once per week. If we are hungry, we usually choose this little inexpensive coffee shop: The Brighton.
Good food (not great, but good- you know what you are going to get) . Unpretentious. Great people watching. Old fashioned sit down counter. It's the oldest coffee shop in Beverly Hills.

We also stopped by Tomory's show as it was the last day. He was sad. It's always hard to say goodbye.
